McKinley's Rides
'Starbrite has been nothing but fantastic for McKinley. In addition to therapeutic riding, McKinley receives physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. Therapeutic riding is by far the most beneficial all around for McKinley.
The changes in her since starting at the barn are noticeable to nearly all those that have the pleasure of knowing her.
Her nurse said recently, while McKinley was on the floor playing, “she’s holding herself up so much better and longer now, I’ve really noticed an improvement since she’s been riding her horse.”
She loves to ride fast and if she could she would fly through the pastures on her horse.
Her fine motor skills have also improved; her ability to hold the reins for longer and to do several activities while riding. Another substantial improvement since riding is her vocalization, she is very talkative now; in the saddle, at home, and school.
When she first started riding there were very few vocalization attempts, now she is consistent when saying go or walk on and she is working on getting whoa out at the right time.
You can see McKinley's progress, when she began riding she had to use a stackable pillow, graduated to a boppy pillow, and now just rides with the surcingle.'
